Shortening the Walk: Helping Blood:Water Bring Clean Water to the Next Million People in Africa

Challenge:

Blood:Water, an equipping agency that works with grassroots organizations in Africa to solve the HIV/AIDS and water crises, brought on Reed Public Relations to raise awareness of its new initiative, The Next Million. The organization had tremendous success bringing clean water to one million people in Africa in just ten years, and recruited RPR to help with their efforts to bring water to the next million in just three years. As our relationship with Blood:Water grew, we were called on to help with its third annual Red Tie Gala as well as its Save a Drink, Save a Life campaign.

Solution:

RPR worked with the nonprofit to learn which markets it wanted to reach, and began outreach to local, regional and national publications, radio stations and television networks.

Results:

Using an individualized approach for each project, our team has brought a spotlight to Blood:Water’s impact in Africa since our partnership began in October 2014. To date, the equipping agency’s mission has been highlighted through interviews on Nashville’s ABC television network, profiles in The Tennessean and Knoxville News Sentinel, event write-ups in Nashville Lifestyles and The Tennessean and 12th & Broad, and an interview on Nashville’s independent radio Lightning 100.
