Our newest account manager, Jessica, has an eye for photography and design but a passion for organization and logistics—a winning combination in the world of public relations! We got to know more about the California native’s interests, hobbies and greatest accomplishments.
What are some of the most interesting projects you’ve worked on over the years, and what role did you play?
My favorite projects always incorporate photography or event planning. I love being able to work through the design process from concept to completion. The most fast-paced project I ever worked on was designing a measurable QVC social media campaign in four days, one day after signing on the client, over the Thanksgiving holiday.
What is your biggest professional accomplishment?
Adjusting to the unpredictable challenges that come with a global pandemic. In a professional setting, it became more important than ever to prioritize personal well-being in order to continue serving clients to the best of my ability.
Why did you choose this career path? What makes you passionate about your work?
A career in public relations required the least amount of math! On a serious note, PR is the perfect balance between structure and creativity. Being able to take bits and pieces of information and transform them into measurable results for clients is not only fun but keeps me on my toes daily!
Where did you receive your education?
I graduated from Texas Christian University (TCU), Bob Schieffer College of Communication. I graduated with a degree in Strategic Communication with an emphasis on PR and Advertising and a minor in Child Development.
What makes you successful? What’s your method for ensuring that a project is a success?
I am a dedicated list maker! I believe that organization is the key to success. There’s definitely an argument that making too many lists can be distracting or discouraging, but in my opinion, there is nothing more motivating than being able to physically cross a task off a paper list.
What clients have you worked with? What’s your favorite part about working with them?
At my former agency, I worked closely with LAMO Footwear, Royal Hawaiian Orchards and Igloo Coolers. With REED, I’ve enjoyed working with The Escape Game and Workit Health. Each client comes with a unique set of goals and my favorite part is being able to achieve success with different budgets, assets and sets of challenges.
What is a crazy story you love to tell at cocktail parties?
I once hiked two miles into a cave in Panama. About halfway in it turned out to be more of a swim rather than a hike. Neck-deep in murky water, I learned what scorpion spiders were—and I am terrified of spiders!
Where are you from? Where else have you lived besides Nashville?
I was born and raised in Topanga, California near Los Angeles. I moved for the very first time at 18 to Fort Worth, Texas for school and stayed there for my first job.
Married? Kids? Pets?
About a year ago I rescued a dog from a shelter in Texas. Her name is Luna, but she is currently with my family back home in California. She lives with her siblings Lizzie and Jojo!
What do you do for fun?
In my free time, you can find me practicing my photography skills, hiking or kickboxing at the gym.
Any unrelated awesome talents?
I could have a Ph.D. in Friends or Grey’s Anatomy.
List three words that describe you:
Considerate, empathetic, dedicated
Favorite quote?
“Raise your words, not voice. It is rain that grows flowers, not thunder.” -Rumi
Favorite restaurant?
Back home it was an Indian restaurant called Valley India Café. I have yet to discover my favorite place in Nashville!
Any last words?
When it is safe to travel again, I am excited to be able to take advantage of REED’s Be the Good program once I meet the requirements. It was one of the main reasons I was drawn to the agency in the first place, and it’s been great seeing how that mission is brought back into everyday work.
